Ms. Mya John - Public Relations Officer

“I solemnly pledge to dedicate my life to the service of my God and my country”, these are the words that encapsulate the life of Ms. Mya John. With over seven years of experience in activism and volunteerism, she persistently endeavors to be a catalyst nationally, regionally and internationally.

Mya serves as the Events Coordinator of the National Alliance of Faith and Justice where she plays an integral role in the execution of their annual scholarship program. Additionally, she has co-founded two youth mentorship programs focused on deterring youth from a lifestyle of crime to pursue academic and career success.

In March 2020, Ms. John had the esteemed privilege of participating in the first all women stimulated parliamentary sitting in the Caribbean hosted by the Caribbean Women in Leadership NGO (CiWiL) in collaboration with The National Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and ParlAmericas. At this historic event, Mya had the opportunity to debate as the Opposition Leader. Following this sitting, Mya became a parliament peer mentor with CiWiL and assisted young women from Antigua and Barbuda in preparation for their parliament sitting. She later became the Project Coordinator of the Young Women in Leadership parliament sitting in 2021.

Professionally, Mya possesses a wealth of experience in Social Media Management, Digital  Marketing and Administration. She also studies Public Speaking and is currenting pursuing a BSc in Political Science at the UWI. As the Public Relations Officer of the Trinidad Youth Council, Mya is determined to work with her team to build a strong brand image for the council as well as promote more inclusive representation.
